I have been eating clean and working out on a consistent basis since September 2014 and I have had some amazing results.  Not only has the appearance of my body changed, but my running has improved dramatically, my energy levels have increased and an overall feeling of wellness and ease is my usual state of being.

I am grateful that I was introduced to a lifestyle that combines fitness (beyond running), nutrition (including my daily Shakeology!), and the opportunity to help others realize their own health and wellness goals.  That said, I am a firm believer in constant learning and new challenges!  Plus, my nutrition over the last week has not been as good as it could be and splurging on a burger during lunch with my parents this afternoon has me looking and feeling bloated (as you can see from the photo below).  And to be honest, my stomach has been in turmoil ever since.  It is never worth it!

So I have decided to kick-start my summer nutrition with a great Beachbody product called the 3 Day Refresh starting June 15th.  It is a low-calorie program (about 900 calories a day) but because the shakes and fresh food selections are high in protein and fiber, they keep you feeling full all day.  I have spoken with other ladies who have tried it and no one indicated they felt hungry; which is good news because I am someone who likes to feel full.

That said, I am more than a little bit nervous about giving up my coffee for three days!!  You know from my photos that I love it! That said, if it makes me nervous to give it up it is probably time to try doing just that (can you say addiction?!).

I am doing this whole thing vegan (including my Shakeology) so here is some of the food I prepped for the kids and I this afternoon.  The carrot salad is in the menu plan and it is seasoned with all of my favourite flavours; cumin, coriander, cinnamon, lemon and cilantro!

Day 1 – June 15, 2015

When I woke up this morning I wasn’t sure I would make it past the coffee pot, but I turned on the kettle before I went down stairs for my workout and the green tea actually did me just fine.  I did a Pilates Fix workout which was gentle, but effective.  It was my first time trying the 21 Day Fix version and not the extreme and my glutes were on fire!!  I loved it.

I did wait too long to have my Shakeology breakfast and felt myself being pretty famished by the time I got to it.  Tomorrow I will do this differently for sure.  It was mostly a case of not wanting to run the magic bullet and waking the kids up, but my stomach growling was probably just as loud!!  Being a breakfast eater (love my eggs!) I thought this would also be tough, but the Shakeology and half a banana was perfect.  Plus I had more time because I wasn’t cooking!

Next came the fiber sweep and although the texture is…well…grainy (it’s fiber after all); it did taste just fine.  I think I added too much water so will be more careful with that tomorrow.

Lunch was pretty tasty, but I did feel hungry when I got to it.  I’m a total morning eater so this didn’t surprise me.  The afternoon was good. I did have a big green tea around 1:00 pm, then my celery and hummus snack at 4.  Dinner was great; veggie broth with herbs, veggie stir fry with coconut oil and ginger and the vanilla fresh shake.

After work I made up a pot of home made ice tea.  Lime, mint tea on ice with a little stevia.  It was nice to sip before and after dinner.  Before I went to bed I had a couple of forks full of the carrot salad, but didn’t feel famished.  All in all, it was a good day and my bloat is definitely all gone!!

Day 2 – June 16, 2015

Not going to lie, I was hungry this morning! I’ve mentioned that I’m normally a huge morning eater so getting to lunch is my biggest challenge.

Again, no coffee no problem! I’m pretty happy about that. Not that I am going to quit coffee afterwards, but I’m happy that no one got hurt because I didn’t have it!

Lunch today was leftover carrot salad (will definitely make this after the refresh) a few sautéed mushrooms and 2 tbsp of avacado with my vanilla refresh and half a banana. I feel much better after this meal!!

Another day of the complete and another plate loaded with yummy veggis! I did feel more hungry at times today so I added an extra serving of veg with dinner and an evening snack of carrot salad. Overall I feel really great, lighter and there have not been any “uncomfortable” responses by my digestive system! I would definitely recommend it if you want to reset your healthy eating or break some bad eating habits.

Day 3 – June 17, 2015

I was much hungrier on the third day, but it was not unmanageable.  If I was to do this again, I would definitely add another serving of vegetables, but only because I move a lot during a given day and tend to consume a lot of calories on a regular basis to keep up with my activity level.  Everyone is different.  That said, there is no denying the results!
